Konstantin Bruns

The German cellist Konstantin Bruns was born in 1993. From 2008 to 2017 he studied with Prof. Stephan Forck at the Hanns Eisler University of Music in Berlin. Since October 2017 he has continued his studies with Prof. Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt at the University of the Arts in Berlin. 

He received further artistic impulses from Jens Peter Maintz, Nicolas Altstaedt, Ralph Kirshbaum, Natalia Gutman, Frans Helmerson, Mischa Maisky and Steven Isserlis, among others. He was also a scholarship holder of the International Music Academy in Liechtenstein and took part in the intensive weeks there. 

Konstantin was awarded 1st prizes for his outstanding achievements in 2007 at the “Jütting Competition”, in 2011 at the “International Hindemith Competition”, in 2016 at the “International Music Competition Hamburg” and in 2017 at the “International Music Competition” in Stockport (England). At the “Domenico Gabrielli Competition” in 2015 and at the “Streichwerk International String Competition” in 2016, he was awarded a 2nd prize. He is also the 1st prize winner of the national competition "Jugend musiziert" several times. In addition, he won special prizes from the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben, the Berthold-Hummel Foundation, the Tonali12 Grand Prix and a Richard Wagner scholarship. 

Konstantin has performed as a soloist with the North German Philharmonic Rostock (with live broadcast by Deutschlandradio), the South West German Chamber Orchestra Pforzheim, the Magdeburg Philharmonic, the Magdeburg Chamber Orchestra, the Orcherster musica assoluta in Hanover and the Stockport Symphony Orchestra. He also played concerts at the Piatigorsky Cellofestival in Los Angeles, at the Bodenseefestival with recording by the SWR, at the music festival in Bad Kissingen, at the music festival in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, at the Schleswig-Holstein music festival, at the Alkan Festival in Hamburg with recording by the DLF and at the Altmark Festival. He is also artist of “Live Music Now”.

Since 2017 Konstantin is assistant to Prof. Stephan Forck at the "Hanns Eisler" University of Music in Berlin. 

Konstantin is a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation as well as of the Villa Musica Rheinland-Pfalz and the Campanula e.V. Berlin.
