Youkyoung Yoon

You Kyoung Yoon was born in South Korea in 1992. She started playing the violin at the age of five. After meeting Professor Andreas Krecher at the Euro Art Music Festival, she moved to Germany at the age of 17 to further develop her musical skills. She obtained her master’s degree with distinction. Currently, she’s working on her concert diploma at the Robert Schumann University in Düsseldorf. 

You took part in many master classes, including the international festival in Ljubljana, the Académie Internationale de Musique Courchevel, the Forum Artium, the International Summer Academy Bad Leonfeld and Haus Marteau. She worked with world-famous violinists such as Lvry Gitlis, Latica Honda-Rosenberg, Ingolf Turban, Stephan Picard, Carolin Widmann and Petru Munteanu. She was also a scholarship holder of the International Music Academy Liechtenstein and took part in the intensive weeks and activities of the academy. 

You participated in numerous competitions and won many prizes, including the 1st prize in the Joobgbu University competition, the 1st prize in a competition in the city of Pyeongtaek, the 1st prize and the special prize of the “Daejeon Catholic Competition” and the 2nd prize of the “Daejeon MBC Broadcasting Contest”. As a guest member of the Classical Philharmonic Bonn, Yoon played in places like the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Beethovenhalle Bonn, the Liederhalle Stuttgart and the Herkulessaal Munich. 

Yoon is an enthusiastic chamber musician and plays in various formations. Her string quartet has won the Schmolz and Bickenbach Chamber Music Competition.
