Prof. Srebrenka Poljak

Srebrenka Poljak received her bachelor's degree in 1993 and in 1995 she was the youngest ever to receive the master's degree from the Zagreb Academy of Music, where she studied with Professor Zvjezdana Bašic (pupil of Heinrich Neuhaus). At various festivals and master courses (Jerusalem Music Encounters, Firenze Masterclass Internazionale, Orlando Festival, Wien-Prag-Budapest Sommerakademie, etc.) she encountered many great artists and ensembles, such as Isaac Stern, Mstislav Rostropovic, Leon Fleisher, Marian Lapšansky, Borodin quartet, Emerson string quartet, Julliard String quartet and others who shaped her musical identity. As a soloist she performed with the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, Croatian Radio Television Symphony Orchestra, Croatian Army Symphonic Wind Orchestra and Croatian Chamber Orchestra. She is also an accomplished chamber musician and has been perfoming widely with distinguished artists (S. Arnold, M. Bekavac, V. Despalj, S. Milenkovich, B. Paradzik and others).
As a member of the renowned Zagreb Piano Trio she toured Norway, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Italy, and Israel having won many prizes and acknowledgments (1st prize on the Trondheim International Chamber Music Competion in Norway, 2nd prize and the award for the best piano trio in Heerlen, the Netherlands, Darko Lukic award, Ivo Vuljevic award, etc.). As a pianist of the internationally acclaimed Cantus ensemble, she performs and records works of contemporary composers, many of which are first performances. She is a member of the jury at the International Competition for young pianists Premio "Isola del Sole" in Grado, Italy. She works at the Zagreb Academy of Music and performs regularly as a member of the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra.
