Christine Lee

Christine Lee was born in 1991 in South Korea. The cellist strives to share poetic and magical experiences with the audience through music. Currently, she resides in Belgium. She studied with Orlando Cole, Peter Wiley and Carter Brey at the Curtis Institute of Music with a Bachelor of Music and with Joel Krosnick at The Juilliard School. 

She received a scholarship from the International Music Academy Liechtenstein and took part in the intensive music weeks and activities of the academy there. Currently, she’s a residence-in-artist at the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth. 

Recent engagements range from solo recitals in NYC and Paris, masterclasses at Kronberg Academy (Frankfurt) and IMS Prussia Cove (Cornwall), as well as collaborative contemporary music premieres with Eighth Blackbird and Juilliard’s AXIOM. As a soloist,  Christine has appeared with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Houston Symphony, the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, the Koreans Broadcasting Symphony and the Calgary Symphony. She also frequently gives recitals in Asia, North America and Europe. 

Christine’s passion and enjoyment for chamber music has led to festival appearances at Music@Menlo (CA), Seiji Ozawa Academy (Rolle), Music from Angelfire (NM), Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts (NY), as well as collaborations with Roberto Diaz, Pamela Frank, Gary Graffman, Frans Helmerson, Nobuko Imai, Ida Kavafian, Kim Kashkashian and the members of Orion Quartet and the Guarneri Quartet. Her performances have been featured on WQXR’s McGraw-Hill Financial Young Artists, WHYY On Stage at Curtis and American Public Media’s Performance Today.
