The Norwegian cellist Amalie Stalheim was born in 1993, and received her first cello lessons at the age of six. She is currently studying at the Edsberg institute of the Royal College of Music in Stockholm under Professor Torleif Thedéen. She also receives a scholarship from the International Music Academy in Liechtenstein, where she participates in the intensive music weeks.
Amalie Stalheim has received various scholarships and won several competitions, including 1st prizes at the Norwegian “Young Musicians Competition” (2010 and 2012). In 2012 she was a semi-finalist at the NRK Norwegian radio’s “Virtuoso” competition, and in 2015 she was a finalist at the Swedish “Ung & Lovande” (“Young & Promising”) competition.
She has already performed as a soloist with the Bergen Youth Chamber Orchestra (2012), the Royal College of Music Stockholm Symphony Orchestra (2014), the “Südwestdeutsches Kammerorchester” chamber orchestra (2014) and the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra (2015).
Amalie Stalheim has also been invited to perform at several festivals, for example she received an invitation to perform as a “Young Artist” at the Norwegian Youth Chamber Music Festival (NYCMF), the Nässelfrossa Festival in Sweden and the Verbier Festival Academy.
