During this time, he also won First Prize at the national competition Jugend Musiziert. Moreover, he partook in concert tours with the National Youth Orchestra in Germany and abroad.

After his graduation from high school in 2007 he became a student of Prof. Latica Honda-Rosenberg, first at the University for Music in Freiburg and as of 2009 at the Academy of Arts Berlin. Currently he is pursuing his Master studies. In 2011 Richard performed at the Schloss Cappenberg Festival.
