Martin Krpan

Martin Krpan was born in Zagreb in 1995 and received his first violin lessons at the age of six from Prof. Nela Rašan. He is currently studying at the Music Academy of Zagreb in the class of Prof. Leonid Sorokov and is a fellow of the International Academy of Music in the Principality of Liechtenstein where he participates in intensive music weeks.

He has won many prizes in national and international competitions. They include amongst others first prizes in regional competitions and national competitions for young violinists in Croatia (2008, 2010, 2012, 2014), a second prize in 2011 and a third prize in 2013 at the International Violin Competition "Young Virtuoso" in Zagreb. In 2009 and 2014 respectively, Martin was a finalist and received a special award at the "International Lions Competition" in Rijeka. He also won special prizes at the international violin competition "Alpe-Adria" in Gorizia (Italy) in 2008 and the "International Strings Competition Rudolf Matz" in Dubrovnik in 2010. In the field of chamber music, he received first prizes in 2009 and 2011 with a piano trio at the national chamber music competition in Opatija and 2013 as a duo with the pianist Elizabeta Adžaga.

Martin Krpan took part in master classes with Prof. Andelko Krpan and Prof. Stefan Milenkovic in Grožnjan (Croatia), with Prof. Marina Sorokova and Prof. Leonid Sorokov in Opatija (Croatia) and the "Strings International Music Festival" in Bryn Mawr (Philadelphia / USA).

In 2008, the young violinist appeared in the Croatian TV show "Young Master Players", one year later, he was a finalist of the Croatian TV show "Zdravko Šljivac presents". In 2013, Martin performed as guest soloist at the festival "Musica Maxima" in Zagreb. Finally, he also is a member of the "Orchestra Jeunesses Musicales Croatia" and the "Zagreb Youth Orchestra".
