Charlotte Melkonian was born in Germany in 2013. She began playing the cello at the age of four and received her first cello lessons at the Cello Academy in Hamburg. Additionally, she trained in Yerevan, Armenia, at the Komitas Conservatory. Since April 2022, Charlotte has been a student in the preparatory class at the Institute for the Early Support of the Musically Gifted at the Hanover University of Music, Theater and Media.
She regularly receives cello lessons at the Mozarteum Salzburg and also attends masterclasses with Narek Hakhnazaryan, Prof. Philipp Muller, Prof. Maria Kliegel and Prof. Jens Peter Maintz, among others. She is a scholarship holder at the Music Academy in Liechtenstein and takes part in the intensive weeks and activities that take place there.
Charlotte is a winner of numerous competitions. She won 1st prizes with full points at “Jugend Musiziert” in the categories of chamber music duo, trio and cello solo, a 1st prize at the “International Young Ludwig Competition” with a special prize from the European Circle of Friends and the 1st prize with distinction at the “Hamburg Instrumental Competition”.
Charlotte's concert activities include, among others, appearances as a soloist in the Laeiszhalle Hamburg with the Hanse Philharmonie Hamburg, at the Summer Music Days in Hitzacker and also in Ely in England. She will soon play concerts as a soloist with the NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover and also appear as a soloist at the Sion Festival Violon musique with an orchestra.
