Prof. Coosje Wijzenbeek (†)

Coosje Wijzenbeek studied violin with Prof. Davina van Wely at the Amsterdam Conservatory. After her studies she played in several chamber music ensembles and was a member of the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra Holland.

Violin pedagogy has always been her special interest and she has trained many generations of young Dutch violinists. She taught at the Amsterdam Conservatory. Coosje Wijzenbeek has given many courses and masterclasses in America (e.g. at Indiana University in Bloomington) in Switzerland (Margess International) and in Germany (Stringtime Goch). She was artistic director of the annual masterclasses in Ftan (Switzerland). For many years she led the ensemble "Fancy Fiddlers" with which she participated in many festivals in Europe. Many of her students have won prizes in European violin competitions. In December 2007 Coosje Wijzenbeek was awarded an important Dutch special prize for her merits in the education of young talents.

Prof. Coosje Wijzenbeek passed away on 25 March 2021 at the age of 72.
