Alina Morger

Alina Isabel Morger was born in Switzerland in 2000 and received her first cello lessons from Christine Meyer at the age of six. In 2013 she switched to Rebecca Firth at the Zurich Conservatory Music School. In spring 2018 she was accepted as a young student in the cello class of Prof. Thomas Grossenbacher at the Zurich University of the Arts and began her bachelor's degree with him in the autumn semester of 2019. 

She has supplemented her previous cellist training with master classes at home and abroad with Thomas Grossenbacher, Raphael Wallfisch, Roel Dieltiens, Sebastian Comberti and Rebecca Firth, in chamber music with Matthias Buchholz and Troels Svane. She is also a scholarship holder of the International Music Academy in Liechtenstein and takes part in the intensive weeks there. 

Alina Isabel Morger has won multiple 1st prizes at national and cantonal youth music competitions. In 2015 and 2016, she was awarded the 1st prize with distinction at the Swiss Youth Music Competition in the solo and chamber music categories twice in a row. 

Alina has been playing in various orchestras since she was eight. From 2015-2019 she was section leader and solo cellist of the PreCollege Orchestra of the Zurich University of the Arts. She has also performed as a soloist several times with orchestras, including with the Konsi Strings Zurich in the Tonhalle Zurich, and most recently with the PreCollege Orchestra Zurich. Various concert tours have taken her to Ticino, Italy, Norway and China. In addition, she also participates in various chamber music formations. In summer 2018 she was invited to a PreCollege chamber music project in Bangkok at the Mahidol University of Music and in autumn 2019 for a chamber music project at the UNA in Buenos Aires.
