Anthony Fournier

Anthony Fournier was born in Sion, Switzerland, in 1993 and started learning to play the violin at the age of nine. In 2002, he entered the Conservatoire Cantonal de Sion where he studied with Prof. Stefan Ruha. From 2008 to 2012 he studied violin at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne in Sion with Prof. Francesco De Angelis, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. He was also a diligent participant of master classes with distinguished musicians like Gyulla Stuller, Julie Lafontaine, Shlomo Mintz, Latica Honda-Rosenberg, Pavel Vernikov and Sergiu Schwartz.

As early as of 2002 Anthony Fournier gathered his first orchestra experience with conductors such as Michel Legrand, Benjamin Levi, Ivan Törzs, Philippe Béran, Michel Cardinaux, Wilson Hermanto or Aurélien Azan-Zielinski and won Second Prize at the Swiss youth music competition FINALE in Hünenberg. In 2008, Anthony obtained First Prize cum laude at the Concours Suisse in Lausanne and recorded his first CD with the Orchestre Rapsodia one year later. In 2012, he was second prizewinner at the Concours international Alexandre Glazounov in Paris. In 2012/13, Anthony Fournier will take up his master studies at the Zurich Academy of Arts with Prof. Rudolf Koelman.
