Karoline Wocher was born in Feldkirch in 1997. From 2009 to 2010 she studied under Professor Kamilla Schatz at the Winterthur Conservatoire, before going on to study in Professor Monika Urbaniak’s special class for exceptionally gifted students at the Bern Conservatoire. Since 2017, she has been studying violin with Professor Henrik Hochschild at the University for Music and Theatre “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” Leipzig. She is also a member of the Orchestra Academy of the Liechtenstein Symphony Orchestra and receives a scholarship from the International Academy of Music in Liechtenstein, where she regularly takes part in the intensive music weeks.

The young musician has participated in many masterclasses, for example with Bruno Steinschaden, Tatjana Liberowa, Vivica Percy, Stanley Ritchie, Karin-Regina Florey, Kamilla Schatz, Mateus Careolo, Coosje Wijzenbeek, Barbara Doll, Corina Belcea, Yuri Zhislin, Julia Schröder, Sergej Ostrowsky, Bartek Niziol, Yuki Kasai and Leonid Sorokow. She received a scholarship from the Volksbank Rankweil, and took part in the Vorarlberg State Parliament’s project for the promotion of exceptional talent.

Numerous competition prizes at home and abroad bear witness to Karoline Wocher’s extraordinary musical talent. In 2014 she was awarded two 1st prizes at the Austrian young musicians’ competition “Prima la Musica” in the solo violin and chamber music categories. She was also awarded 2nd prize at the Young Musician International Competition “Città di Barletta”. In 2016, she won a 1st prize with maximum points at the “Jugend musiziert” competition, and made it through into the next round, as well as winning a masterclass with Igor Ozim as part of the “Oberstdorfer Musiksommer”.

Karoline Wocher has performed both as a soloist and as a chamber musician and has already participated in ORF recordings for national Austrian radio, for example with the “Duo Yoiyami”. In 2011 she played W. A. Mozart’s Violin Concerto in D Major at the “Montafon Summer Concerts”. In May 2015, she was invited to perform as a soloist with the Orchestra of the “Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde Bregenz”, performing Saint-Saëns’ Concerto for Violin and Cello. In addition to her activities as a soloist, the young violinist has received many invitations to perform in concert with the “Ensemble Viore” (violin, recorder, oboe, cello). She is also a member of the ENSEMBLE ESPERANZA, which is made up of scholarship holders from the International Academy of Music in Liechtenstein, and is performing at the FESTIVAL NEXT GENERATION in Bad Ragaz.
