Kateryna Garanich

Kateryna Garanich was born in Ukraine in 1995 and received her first piano lessons at the age of four from her grandmother Kira Garanich. Later she studied in Kharkiv with Natalya Avramenko, Prof. Tatjana Werkina and Prof. Gerlinde Otto at the Liszt School of Music Weimar. She is currently a student in Prof. Eldar Nebolsin's class at the Hanns Eisler University of Music in Berlin. 

She attended master classes with renowned professors such as Dmitri Bashkirov, Wladimir Krainew, Bernd Goetzke, Rolf-Dieter Arens, Claudio Martinez-Mehner, Ivan Monighetti (chamber music), Thomas Hoppe (chamber music), Igor Petrushevski (chamber music) and Denis Severin (chamber music). She is also a scholarship holder of the International Music Academy in Liechtenstein and takes part in the academy's activities there. 

Kateryna has won several piano competitions. Among others, she took part at the “9. International Vladimir Krainew Competition for Young Pianists” (3rd prize), the “8. International competition for young pianists in memory of Vladimir Horowitz” (4th prize), the “6. International Competition for Young People in S. Prokofiev‘s Native Land” (2nd prize) and the “XXII Ibiza International Piano Competition” (Special Mention and Special Prize). 

The young pianist has given numerous solo recitals and chamber music concerts in Ukraine, Russia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Spain, Italy and Belarus. She has also appeared as a soloist with well-known orchestras, including the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine under Volodymyr Sirenko, Nikolay Dyadyura, with the Chamber Orchestra of Moscow Virtuoso under Vladimir Spivakov, with the Kharkiv Philharmonic Orchestra under Yriy Yanko, Shaliko Paltadzhian, Yuriy Yakushenko and Yurikiny Yakovenko. 

In 2017, Kateryna won the place in the prestigious Encuentro de Música y Academia de Santander, where she played numerous solo and chamber music concerts with famous musicians during the month. In July 2018 she took part in the Edwin Fischer Summer Academy, Potsdam (Professor Klaus Hellwig). 

The young pianist has received numerous scholarships, including from the Konrad-Adenauer Foundation (2019), Gisela and Erich Andreas Foundation (2018), Lucia Loeser (2017-2018), STIBET graduation scholarship (2017), Ottilie-Selbach-Redslob-Foundation ( 2017), NEW LISZT FOUNDATION WEIMAR- Charlotte Krupp Scholarships (2015-2016), from the Ukrainian President (2014), Kharkiv Foundation for the Support of Young Talents in Literature and the Arts (2011 and 2009).
