Lucia Mihyun Ahn

Lucia Mihyun Ahn was born in South Korea in 1991. In 2005 she received her "Diplôme d'Exécution" at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris with Prof. Germaine Mounier as the best student of the year. In 2009 she graduated from the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional de Paris (D.E.M.S.) with Prof. Olivier Gardon, also with best notes, and in 2011 she received the “Diplôme supérieur d'Exécution” at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris. From 2012 to 2014 she took a bachelor's degree with a major in piano with Prof. Alfredo Perl at the Detmold University of Music, where she received her “Bachelor of Music” in 2014 with the highest number of points. In 2014 she began a master's degree in piano at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media with Prof. Ewa Kupiec. 

In 2005, the young pianist took part in a master class with Germaine Mounier, which was organized by the Société Chopin in Paris. She attended other master classes with Prof. Bernd Goetzke, Jerome Rose and Bruno Rigutto. She was also a scholarship holder of the International Music Academy in Liechtenstein and took part in the intensive weeks there. 

Her competition successes include the 1st prize at the “Rhodes International Piano Competition” in Greece (2006) and 1st prizes each at the “Concours International Hanweekly” and “Steinway & Sons Piano Competition” in Paris (2008). In 2014 she received the 2nd prize and the audience prize at the “Grand Prix International de piano” in Montrond-les-Bains (France), the 1st prize at the “Concours International Leopold Bellan” in France and the 3rd prize at the international piano competition “Prix Amadeo de piano” in Aachen (Germany). She was also a prizewinner at the “German Piano Competition Polish Music” in Hamburg and a semi-finalist at the “International Piano Competition - Istanbul Orchestra 'Sion”. 

Lucia performed with the Rumania Giurgiu Philharmonia Orchestra in Korea, gave a concert with the Czech Opava Symphony Orchestra and performed in the Je-Ju Halla Art Hall on the occasion of the “120th Anniversary of Korean-French Relation”. Further concerts have taken her to the “Center Leopold Bellan” in Paris, to the Euregio Music Festival in Osnabrück and to the Filharmonia Gorzowska in Poland. Lucia played her first recital in the Je-Ju Halla Art Hall, gave a recital with Prof. Marek Drewnowski in the Widowiskowa Palladium in Warsaw (Poland) and recitals on the occasion of Chopin's 200th birthday in the Bibliothèque Polonaise de Paris and in the Korean-French Cultural center.
