Joo Hyeon Park

The South Korean pianist Joo Hyeon Park was born in 1988. He began his studies at the Mozarteum University, Salzburg, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 2009. He went on to successfully complete a Master of Music degree (2011) and an Artist Diploma (2012) at Yale University School of Music. He is currently studying for a postgraduate degree in concert performance at Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media. His teachers have included Arie Vardi, Hung-Kuan Chen, Claude Frank and Karl-Heinz Kämmerling. He also receives a scholarship to attend the International Music Academy in the Principality of Liechtenstein, where he participates in the intensive music weeks.

Joo Hyeon Park has already won numerous competitions, for example a first prize and the audience prize at the “Rotary Klavierwettbewerb Jugend” competition for young pianists in Germany (2005), the “Mozarteum Prize” in Austria (2007), 2nd prize in the International Competition of the “Animato Stiftung” in Switzerland (2008), a prize at the “Concours International de Piano Clara Haskil” in Switzerland (2011) and 3rd prize at the “Concours International de Piano de l’OPM” (2015). He has also reached the semi-finals in several competitions, including the “Concours Reine Elisabeth” in Belgium (2013) and the “Concours de Genève” in Switzerland (2014).

Joo Hyeon Park has also already appeared in concert with many different orchestras, for example the “Mozarteumorchester” under the baton of Sir André Previn, the Göttinger Symphony Orchestra under Wolfgang Westphal, the “Akademisches Orchester Leipzig” under Horst Förster, the “Orchestre Philharmonique du Maroc” under Olivier Holt, the “Musikkollegium Winterthur” under Jesús López Cobos, the “Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie” under Michael Hofstetter and the “Jugendsinfonieorchester Dornbirn” under the baton of Guntram Simma. He has also been invited to perform at the Bodenseefestival in Germany, at the Salzburger Schlosskonzerte in Mirabell Palace in Austria, and at the Yale School of Music Vista concert in the USA, and has performed in the Auditorium Stravinsky in Switzerland, at the Kennedy Center in the USA, and in the Gewandhaus zu Leipzig in Germany.
