Robert Neumann

Robert Neumann, born in 2001, was awarded the “Discovery Award 2017” by the International Classical Music Award jury, and proclaimed an “exceptional talent” and “one of the most promising young piano talents”.

The young pianist grew up speaking three languages in a family of musicians. Since the age of four, Monika Giurgiuman has been both supervising his musical education and teaching him at the Stuttgart Music School. At the age of eleven, Robert Neumann was accepted as a junior student to Professor Elza Kolodin’s class at the Music Academy in Freiburg, where, at the age of 15, he became a regular student.

In order to further his studies, he regularly travels to the International Academy of Music in Liechtenstein. As a scholarship holder he profits from the intensive tuition and activities on offer there. Robert Neumann has broadened his musical horizons by attending the masterclasses of Dmitri Bashkirov, Pavel Gililov, Grigory Gruzman, Robert Levin, Oleg Maisenberg, Matti Raekallio and Arie Vardi.

Robert Neumann has won numerous national and international competitions. He is supported by the Drews Foundation, and receives scholarships from the “Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben”, the Yamaha Music Foundation, the Rotary Club and the Lions Club. He has also been awarded a place on the 2018/2019 scholarship programme of the “Mozart Gesellschaft Dortmund”.

At the age of eight, the young pianist made his orchestral debut with the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra. He has since appeared with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra, the “Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie” Constance, the Stuttgart Philharmonic, the Liechtenstein Symphony Orchestra, the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig and the ENSEMBLE ESPERANZA. He has already worked together with conductors such as Francesco Angelico, Dan Ettinger and Stefan Sanderling.

Robert Neumann was invited to perform at the “Moscow Meets Friends” festival, and has appeared at the “Kissinger Sommer”, the “Schwetzinger Schlosskonzerte”, the “Fränkische Musiktage”, the “Europäisches KulturForum Mainau”, the “Klavierfestival Junger Meister”, the Lucerne Festival, “Interlaken Classics Bern”, the “FESTIVAL NEXT GENERATION Bad Ragaz”, the Ruhr Piano Festival and was invited by the Mozart Society Stuttgart to perform in concert with Sir Roger Norrington. In February 2018, he will be Artist in Residence at the FESTIVAL NEXT GENERATION Bad Ragaz in Switzerland.

The young pianist has already appeared in the Stuttgart “Liederhalle”, in the Rococo Theatre of “Schloss Schwetzingen”, the Council of Constance, the Bregenz Festival House, the “Salle Cortot” in Paris, the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, and in the Moscow International Performing Arts Centre.
