Elia Cohen-Weissert

Elia Cohen-Weissert was born in Jerusalem in 1994. She started her cello lessons at the age of seven at the Jerusalem Conservatory for Music and Dance under the supervision of Mr. Cornelius Faur. Other teachers in Jerusalem were Micha Haran & Zvi Plesser. During this time, she was a part of the "Young Israeli Philharmonic".

In August 2008, Elia moved to Berlin where she became a young student at the University of the Arts Berlin´s (UdK) “Julius- Stern- Institute” in the class of Prof. Catalin Ilea. In numerous master classes, Elia reaped valuable stimuli from Bernard Greenhouse, Frans Helmerson, Wolfgang Boettcher, Philippe Mueller, Christoph Henkel, Jens Peter Maintz, Troels Svane or Wen-Sinn Yang. In 2009, Elia founded the "Julius-Stern-Trio" with her musical companions Michael Cohen- Weissert/piano and Philipp Wollheim/violin supervised first by Prof. Ilan Gronich and since spring 2010 by the "Artemis Quartet". Since May 2011, Elia is a scholarship holder of “Live Music Now” with the “Grancelli Quartet”. In May 2011, she participated in the Julius-Stern- Institute´s delegation to Moscow performing in the “Galina Vishnevskaja” concert hall, in July she was part of the chamber music encounters between the UdK  Berlin and the Jerusalem Music Center.

Since 2011-2012, Elia Cohen-Weissert is a regular student at the UdK Berlin in the class of Prof. Jens Peter Maintz and in the chamber music class of the Artemis Quartet.  In 2012, she partook in the “Musica Mundi” Festival in Belgium and in the Kronberg Masterclasses”, where she was supervised by Prof. Maintz. In September that same year, she performed as part of the JSI delegation in the “Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles”, celebrating 20 years of partnership between Berlin and Brussels. Finally, in October 2012, she toured to China with the “LANXESS Young Euro classics China Concerts 2012” with the UdK delegation.
