Paolo Tagliamento

Paolo Tagliamento was born in Italy in 1997, and completed his violin studies with Professor Caterina Carlini at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi di Milano with distinction, at the age of just 15. Since 2014 he has been studying with Professor Ana Chumachenco at the “Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía” in Madrid, and is supported by a scholarship from John Elkann (FIAT). He also receives a scholarship from the International Academy of Music in Liechtenstein, and participates in the intensive music weeks offered there.

The young violinist has already attended numerous masterclasses, for example at the “Fondazione Musicale Santa Cecilia Portogruaro” (Venice), the Zinaida Gilels Violin School (Treviso), the Accademia Gustav Mahler (Bolzano), the international masterclasses of the Eilat Chamber Music Festival (Israel), the “Claudio Monteverdi” Bolzano Conservatory, the Accademia Musicale Chigiana (Siena), the Accademia Perosi (Biella), the International Masterclasses at Schloss Filseck (Stuttgart), the Accademia Walter Stauffer (Cremona) and the masterclasses of the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. His teachers at these masterclasses have included Daniele Pascoletti, Mauricio Fuks, Vera Beths, Jürgen Kussmaul, Massimo Marin, Corrado Bolsi, Gisella Curtolo, Domenico Pierini, Giovanni Angeleri, Alessandro Moccia, Nora Chastain, Ilja Grubert, Pavel Berman, Nicolas Chumachenco, Salvatore Accardo, Zorik Tatevosyan, Márta Gulyás, Schmuel Aschkenasi, Igor Petrushevski, Eduard Tadevosyan, Heime Müller and Ana Chumachenco.

Paolo Tagliamento has won prizes at several national and international competitions, including the “Rassegna Nazionale di Violino di Vittorio Veneto”, the “IV Ars Nova International Music Competition”, the “International Violin Competition Andrea Postacchini”, the “XXII Concorso Società Umanitaria” and the “XXVII Rassegna migliori diplomati dei Conservatori e degli Istituti Musicali d’Italia”. In September 2015 he won the 34th “Premio Rodolfo Lipizer” International Violin Competition, to become the first Italian ever to have won the competition.

As a soloist, he has already performed many times in Italy and abroad, including concerts in Milan, Rome, Naples, Turin, Venice, Florence, Parma, Piacenza, Trieste, Cremona, Orvieto, Bolzano, Como, Treviso, Udine, Vicenza, Ravenna, Assisi, Toulouse, Paris, Valletta, Athens, Dublin, Colombo, Burgos, Santander, Madrid, Barcelona and Brussels, and has appeared in concert with various orchestras, including the “Orchestra Regionale Filarmonia Veneta”, the “Orchestra I Pomeriggi Musicali”, “I Solisti di Radio Veneto Uno”, the Chamber Music Society of Colombo, the “Orquesta Sinfónica Freixenet Madrid”, the Trio Nielsen and the “Cuarteto Haendel de Puertos del Estado”.

He has also performed on Italian radio and television (RAI 1, RAI 2, RAI 3). In 2013, as a winner at the “XXII Concorso Società Umanitaria” competition, he performed Ludwig van Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No. 8 in G major, op. 30 and Pablo de Sarasate’s “Gypsy Airs”, op. 20, and in January 2014, as a winner of the “XXVII Rassegna migliori diplomati dei Conservatori e degli Istituti Musicali d’Italia”, he performed Eugène Ysaÿe’s Violin Sonata, op. 2, No. 27, and Niccolò Paganini’s Caprice No. 24.

Paolo Tagliamento plays a 1701 Pietro Rogeri violin, on loan from the Pro Canale foundation (Milan).
