Sara Domjanic was born in Vaduz in 1997 and started playing the violin at the age of just four. In 2004, she began private lessons with Professor Herbert Scherz in Zurich. By the age of eleven she had already successfully auditioned for the University of Arts in Berlin, where she continued as a junior student in Professor Latica Honda-Rosenberg’s class at the Julius-Stern-Institute until the age of 15. As a school pupil, she attended the specialist music grammar school in Feldkirch, and was taught by Professor Rudens Turku. Since 2016 she has been studying with Professor Antje Weithaas at the “Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler” in Berlin.

She has attended masterclasses with Gerhard Mantel, Arbo Valdma, Latica Honda-Rosenberg, Thomas Brandis, Coosje Wijzenbeek, Ana Chumachenco and Rudens Turku. Since 2011, the young violinist has also received a scholarship from the International Academy of Music in Liechtenstein, where she participates in the intensive music weeks.

Sara Domjanic won her first violin competition at the age of just five, and has since been awarded numerous first prizes at the Austrian music competition “Prima la Musica” at both regional and national levels. In 2008 she was awarded the “Podium-Prize” in Liechtenstein for her extraordinary musical talent and won first prize at the Swiss “Chamber Music Competition Kiwanis” with the “Trio Ingenium Musicum”. Further first prizes include the Young Musician Competitions in Liechtenstein and Switzerland as well as the “Etide i Skale” International Competition in Croatia. In 2014 she won the Croatian young musician finals of the “Eurovision Young Musicians 2014” in Zagreb, and went on to represent Croatia at the international competition in Cologne, where she played with the WDR Symphony Orchestra.

Sara Domjanic has also embarked on a prolific solo career. She has performed with the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, the Belarusian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Zagreb Soloists, the Franz-Schmidt-Chamber-Orchestra in Vienna, the Gnessin Orchestra Moscow, the Liechtenstein Symphony Orchestra, the “Fancy Fiddlers” chamber music ensemble from Amsterdam, the Varazdin Chamber Orchestra, the WDR Symphony Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of the Julius-Stern-Institute in Berlin. At the tender age of 13 she made her debut at the Berlin Philharmonic Hall. She has also been a much sought-after performer at festivals, including the Epidaurus Festival in Croatia, the Music Festival in the Sultanate of Oman, the Kissinger Summer in Germany, the FESTIVAL NEXT GENERATION Bad Ragaz and the “Festival Kammermusik Bodensee” at Lake Constance. Other concerts took her to the Tonhalle Zürich, the Gewandhaus Leipzig, the Philharmonie im Gasteig in Munich, the Friedrichspalast in Berlin, the Centre Culturel in Paris, “Knezev Dvor” in Dubrovnik, the Vishnevskaya Opera House in Moscow, the Kennedy Center in Washington and Schloss Esterházy in Eisenstadt. In summer 2015 the young violinist debuted at the Gstaad Menuhin Festival. In 2016, she made her concert debut with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and the Marseille Philharmonic Orchestra. She is also a member of the ENSEMBLE ESPERANZA, which is made up of scholarship holders from the International Academy of Music in Liechtenstein.

In 2017/2018, the young violinist will perform in concerts in Dubai, Moscow, Munich, Novosibirsk, Singapore, St. Petersburg, Washington and Zagreb. She has also accepted an invitation to be artist in residence at the FESTIVAL NEXT GENERATION 2018 in Bad Ragaz.

Sara Domjanic has received support from the Conny-Maeva Charitable Foundation, the Guido-Feger-Foundation, the “Musik & Jugend” charitable foundation, the Neue Bank AG Vaduz, the “Promotor” foundation, the “Hand in Hand Anstalt” and the “Kulturstiftung Liechtenstein”.

She plays a Stephan von Baehr “Antonio Stradivari, Golden Period” violin, which was made in 2014.
