Michiko Feuerlein

Michiko Feuerlein was born in Freiburg in 1987 and received her first violin and piano instruction at the age of four. From 1994-2001 she took lessons with Prof. Wolfgang Marschner in Freiburg, from 2001-2003 she was a pupil of Prof. Igor Ozim in Cologne and Bern. Since 2004 Michiko has been studying in the class of Prof. Latica Honda-Rosenberg, first in the preparatory class, then as a regular student at the Freiburg Music Academy and as of fall 2008 at the University of Arts in Berlin. Since autumn 2009 Michiko also studies chamber music there with the Artemis Quartet and occupies the post of a tutor in the class of Prof. Honda-Rosenberg.

The young musician has made her mark as prizewinner at numerous competitions: between 1994 and 2004 she repeatedly won 1st Prizes at the competition „Jugend musiziert“ in the categories violin solo and piano solo, e.g. 1st Prize with the highest score at the 41st national competition and Special Prize of the „Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben“. In 2001 she won the 1st Prize at the Tonkünstlerwettbewerb Baden-Württemberg as well as the Mozart Prize of the Mozart Society Stuttgart, in 2005 the Gold Medal at the „Concours Européen pour Jeunes Solistes“ in the national division with the distinction „excellent“. In 2010 she scored 2nd Prize at the International Paul Hindemith Competition in Berlin.

Michiko Feuerlein plays a Giovanni Grancino violin, a loan instrument from the Maggini Foundation. Since 2010 she is a scholarship holder of the „Freunde Junger Musiker e.V. Berlin“.
