Yurika Cecilia Shima

Yurika-Cecilia Shima was born in 1998, in Kobe, Japan. At the age of four, she started taking classes with Prof. Keiko Umetani, who immediately recognized her exceptional talents. Later on, Umetani sent her to Vienna, where she currently studies with Prof. Marina Sorokowa at the University of Music and Performing Arts.

Yurika is winner of many competitions, both national and international. She has been awarded prizes in Japan, Austria, Italy, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria and Poland. Her latest successes include a first prize at the Austrian National Competition „prima la musica“ in 2012. Also in 2012, Yurika has been awarded a special scholarship from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna for her exceptional achievements.

Her music already brought Yurika to many European countries, including Hungary and Slovakia. Some of her activities have been widely reported on in the media, in newspapers and on television.
