André Gunko

André Gunko was born in Horta/Portugal in 1997.
As a 6- year-old he received his first cello lessons from Orest Grytsyuk at the Regional Conservatory of Angra do Heroismo, today's Escola de Tomás Borba. He attended several master classes , among others with Vladimir Panteleev, Nathaniel Rosen (USA), Levon Mouradian (Portugal), Herwig Tachezi (Austria), Ulf Tischbirek, Leonid Gorokhov and Hatto Beyerle (Germany).

André Gunko is the winner of several national and international competitions. Already in 2007 he won the International Competition for Young Musicians in the International Forum of Music in Madeira, the contest Santa Cecilia, Categorie "D" in Porto, as well as the contest Marilia Rocha, Vila do Conde. This was followed by first prizes in the Competition for String Instruments Alto Minho, Categorie "B", in Viana do Castelo (2008), and, in 2011, in the contest Santa Cecilia, Categorie "C" in Porto.

During his studies André Gunko participated in numerous concert activities of the EES Tomás de Borba.
