Alejandro Bustamate

Alejandro Bustamante was born in 1986 in Madrid. He received his first violin instruction from Sergio Castro and Anna Baget in Madrid. Additionally, he attended the String Academy of the Indiana University (USA), both as a student of Mimi Zweig and as a member of the “Violin Virtuosi“, the ensemble with which he gave numerous concerts in the USA. Following this valuable experience, he continued his studies at the Academy of Music in Aragón as a protégé of Prof. Rolando Prusak and studied chamber music as a pupil of the Cuarteto Casals. He concluded his studies with distinction and furthered his education under the leadership of Sergei Fatkouline in Madrid. Currently, he is studying at University of Arts in Berlin under the direction of Latica Honda-Rosenberg.

Alejandro Bustamante has supplemented and enhanced his training by virtue of master’s courses offered by Mauricio Fuks, Nicolás Chumachenco, Ana Chumachenco, Boris Kuschnir, Rainer Schmidt, Walter Levin, Nora Chastain, Gábor Takács-Nagy as well as members of the Artemis Quartetts and the Cuarteto Quiroga.

As a soloist, he has performed with various Spanish and South American orchestras in Madrid and Argentina. With the pianists José Enrique Bagaria, Aníbal Bañados and Miguel Ángel Ortega Chavaldas, moreover, he has given concerts in Spain and South America. In 2005, he won the first prize at the competition of the “Juventudes Musicales de España“ (“Musical Youth of Spain”) in the category for chamber music and in 2008 in the category for string instruments.

In 2010, Alejandro Bustamante made his first recordings for Columna Música with compositions for violin and piano by Toldrà, Messiaen and Franck.
