Colin Pütz was born in Germany in 2007. He received his first piano lessons at the age of five from Elena Heyroth at the music school in Niederkassel. Since 2017, Colin has been a young student at the Pre College of the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln in the piano class of Prof. Florence Millet.
Colin's previous training was supplemented by masterclasses with Pavel Gililov, Jaques Rouvier, Matthias Kirschnereit, Antti Siirala, Yuri Bogdanov, Vincenzo Balzani, Claudius Tanski and Dmitri Alexeev. He is also a scholarship holder of the Liechtenstein International Music Academy and takes part in the intensive weeks and activities of the academy.
Colin has already won prizes and awards at piano competitions. These include the "International Henle Piano Competition" (1st prize), the "International Cesar Franck Piano Competition" in Brussels (1st prize), the "International Carl Maria von Weber Competition" in Dresden (3rd prize) and the "Van Bremen Piano Competition" (1st price). In 2022, Colin won the 1st prize in a duo with flute with maximum points at the national competition "Jugend Musiziert". He was also awarded the "Ibach Special Prize".
Since the age of six, Colin has given regular performances as a soloist, including at the Beethovenfest Bonn, the Festival Académies International d'été du Grand Nancy, the Claviernacht HfMT Köln, the Festival der Jugend Toblach/Südtirol, the Ruhr Piano Festival, the Wuppertal Music Summer, at the Presentation of the European Culture Prize, at concerts in the Cologne Philharmonic and the Festival Pro Constantia Bad Honnef.
Colin gained his first orchestral experience at the age of ten. In the following years, he played regular orchestra performances, including with the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen. At the age of 13, he made his debut with the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn and its chief conductor Dirk Kaftan. In a total of three concerts, Colin played the Rondo in B flat major, WoO6, by L.v. Beethoven and composed his own cadenzas for it. In 2021, he played with the WDR Symphony Orchestra and the Orchester National de France under the direction of Cristian Macelaru. In 2022, he gave concerts with the Bergische Symphoniker, the Jena Philharmonic, the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra Bucharest and Cristian Macelaru.
Colin faced a musical challenge of a different kind in 2019 as part of a film production by ARD/ORF about the life of Ludwig van Beethoven. Here, Colin played the leading role of Beethoven as a child (8-12 years) and played all the music scenes live on the film set on historical instruments. The film was broadcast at Christmas 2020.
