Born in 1992, Venezuelan flutist Joidy Scarlet Blanco Lewis started her music instruction in 2001 at the Youth Academic Music Institute in Montalban. Two years later she entered the Caracas Youth Orchestra. In 2005, she was admitted to the Simón Bolívar Music Conservatory in the class of Prof. José Garcia changing to the CNSMD Lyon in 2010 where she currently studies with Philippe Bernold, Julien Beaudiment and Gilles Cottin.

Orchestra experiences have seen her on tour throughout Venezuela with the Caracas Youth Orchestra in 2004 and the Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra under Gustavo Dudamel in various British and German cities in 2007. She also had the pleasure of accompanying Placido Domingo with the Teresa Carreño Youth Orchestra in Venezuela and performing under the baton of Claudio Abbado, both in 2009. The young artist started appearing as a soloist from 2006 onward with Franz Doppler´s Concerto for two flutes in d- Minor, André Jolivet´s Concerto for Flute and String Orchestra or Carl Reinecker´s Flute Concerto amongst others.

Joidy Scarlet Blanco Lewis enjoys participating in master classes of famous flutists and pedagogues such as Michael Hasel, Walter Seyfarth, Shigenori Kudo, Henning Trog, Fergus McWilliam, Andreas Wittmann, Cornelia Grohmann or Philippe Bernold, to name but a few. She also received coaching twice by the woodwinds quintet of the Berlin Philharmonic.

Over the past few years, Joidy has successfully partaken in several music competitions at home and abroad: in 2010, she won First Prize at the Yamaha National Flute Competition in Venezuela and was semi-finalist at the IV. International Competition of Moscow Conservatory for Winds & Percussion two years later. Furthermore, she was admitted to the Concours International Maxence Larrieu (Paris 2011) and Concours International Jean-Pierre Rampal (Paris 2008).
