Sul Yoon

Sul Yoon, born in South Korea in 1995, graduated from Yewon Art School and Seoul Arts High School as well as Seoul National University. She is currently studying cello with Prof. Wen-Sinn Yang at the University of Music and Theater in Munich. 

Sul took part in master classes with Jens Peter Maintz, Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, Wen Sinn Yang, Troels Svane, Danjulo Ishizaka, Arto Noras, Jérôme Pernoo, Timothy Eddy and Lluis Claret. She was also a scholarship holder of the International Music Academy Liechtenstein and took part in the intensive weeks and activities of the academy. 

In 2019, Sul received the 2nd prize at the “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University Competition” and made it to the semi-finals at the “ARD Music Competition”. In 2018, she won the 3rd prize at the “25. International Johannes Brahms Competition” and the 2nd prize at the “International Music Festival Buchenau”. In addition, she was awarded at numerous national competitions in South Korea. 

In 2012, Sul made her debut at the Kumho Young Artists Festival in South Korea. She took part in the academy concert at the 2018 Rutesheim Cello Festival and played at the winter concert in Ettal. In 2016 and 2017, she also took part in the Academy Concert of the International Summer Academy Mozarteum and in the Prize Winners' Concert of the Allegro Vivo Chamber Music Festival. 

Sul played with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, the Bad Reichenhaller Philharmonic and the Seoul City Philharmonic Orchestra. In terms of chamber music, she worked with the professors in the Spirit of SNU Strings and was section leader in the Seoul National University Symphony Orchestra.
