Mon Fu Hsu

Mon-Fu Lee Hsu was born in Spain in 1999. He began his violin studies at the age of four with professor and teacher Sergio Castro. At the same time, he began his studies in piano and singing. At the age of twelve he was accepted as one of the youngest students in the class of Professor Ana Chumachenco and Zohrab Tadevosyan at the prestigious Reina Sofia school in Madrid. Since the 2018-2019 academic year, he has been studying with both Professor Mauricio Fuks and Arabella Steinbacher together with Chair Professor Ana Chumachenco and Assistant Zohrab Tadevosyan. 

Mon-Fu received master classes from renowned professors such as Mauricio Fuks, Eduard Grach, Shmuel Ashkenasy, Mark Gothoni, Eduard Tatevosian, Arabella Steinbacher, Christoph Poppen, Natalia Prishepenko, Nicolas Chumachenco, Miriam Fried, Gunter Pichler, Weronika Hagen and more. He takes an active part in master classes at the Kronberg Academy, receives a scholarship from the Liechtenstein International Music Academy and regularly takes part in the Academy's intensive weeks and activities. 

In 2007, Mon-Fu received the 2nd prize in the “Shanghai Young Talent Competition” in China. In 2011, he received the 1st prize in the "Contest for young artists from Madrid" in Spain. 

Internationally, he has given numerous recitals around the world in countries such as Austria, Germany, Taiwan, China, France, Italy and Switzerland, while also appearing as an active participant in music festivals in his home country and abroad such as the Fórum musikae. He was also a participant in the Shanghai Conservatory Summer Camp, the Upper Summer Music Nagoldtald, the Biella Accademia Perossi Milano and the Malta Utto Ugi Festival. He has been a member of the Madrid Young Singers Choir since 2007 and has performed in the most important halls in Madrid such as the Teatro Real in the operas of Fausto, Carmen, the Sony Hall and the National Hall. 

A student of the Reina Sofia School, Mon-Fu was a member of the Dvorak Trio, the Mendelssohn Quartet, the la Pampa Quartet and the Stoneshield Quartet conducted by Maestro Heime Müller. He is currently a member of the Arriaga Santander banking group, led by Marta Gulyas. As a chamber musician, he has worked with both Heime Müller and Marta Gulyas. He is a member of the Banco de España Quintet, with whom he collaborates and performs frequently. 

Mon-Fu enjoys a scholarship to support his studies, generously provided by the City Council of Madrid. He also received a Wardwell Scholarship.
