Laura Katherina Handler

Laura Katherina Handler, born in Munich in 1998, started to take violin and singing lessons at the age of six. In 2006 she and her sister won the Musica Bavariae singing competition and became the angelic voice of Enrico de Paruta's Holy Night, where she performed live for many years and also participated in television recordings. Laura was a member of the children's choir of the Bavarian State Opera. Here she has also been sponsored since 2014 within the framework of the youth academy Opera Experience. Laura has been a student at the Zakhar Bron Academy in Interlaken (Switzerland) since 2014. In addition, Laura attended the pre-college of the Mozarteum University in Salzburg from the winter semester 2016, where she was a junior student in the violin class of Professor Paul Roczek until September 2018. In June 2017 she was accepted into the Leopold Mozart Institute for the Promotion of Talent at the Mozarteum and passed the Abitur at the musical Pestalozzi-Gymnasium in Munich. In Munich, Laura received lessons from the star violinist Kirill Troussov and the Austrian violinist David Frühwirth. Since the winter semester 2018 she has been a student in the violin class of Prof. H. Herzl at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. 

Master classes with Prof. Turban, Prof. Wallin, Prof. Tanja Becker-Bänder, Vadim Gluzman, Vadim Repin, Prof. Latica Honda-Rosenberg, Prof. Munteanu and the baroque violinist Rüdiger Lotter have enriched her education so far. She is also a scholarship holder of the International Music Academy in Liechtenstein and takes part in the intensive weeks there.

Laura is the winner of numerous national and international competitions. For example, she won the first prize with a maximum number of points and the special prize from the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben at the German National Youth Music Competition in 2016. She also won the first prize at the Concorso Internazionale Luigi Zanuccoli in Italy in 2014 and the third prize in the “Young Virtuosos” competition in Bulgaria in 2015. At the 14th international competition Young Violinist in Honor of K. Lipinski and H. Wieniawski in Lublin (Poland), she won the fourth prize in September 2018. 

Laura can already look back on an extensive concert career. She performed solo and chamber music with her sister, among others in Austria, Switzerland, the US, Italy, Ukraine, China and Israel. She played as a soloist with the Taurida International Symphony Orchestra St. Petersburg, the Imola Chamber Orchestra, the Tegernsee Chamber Orchestra, the Munich Philharmonic under the direction of Heinrich Klug, with the New Munich Youth Orchestra, the Eurasia Chamber Orchestra - Berlin, the Shenzhen Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Zakhar Bron Chamber Orchestra, the Salzburg Chamber Soloists and most recently with the Kammerphilharmonie Dacapo Munich. 

Laura is a scholarship holder of the Yehudi Menuhin Organization Live Music Now, the Lyra Foundation, and the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben. 

She has a violin on loan with a note "Giovanni Paolo Magini, Brescia 1624" from the German Musical Instrument Fund.
